Our trap bars are ideal for home gyms and perfect for both novice and experienced lifters. Trap bars, also known as hex bars or shrug bars, are used for a variety of exercises. Firstly, you can use them for shrugs to target your upper back and shoulders. The hexagonal shape is particularly useful as it eliminates interference and contact with your body, leaving you to focus on your lifts. Secondly, trap bar deadlifts are great for building power into your workouts. They focus your quads and don’t put as much stress on your lower back. This can make trap bar deadlifts safer for anyone who is injured or new to fitness. It also makes them ideal for beginners as well as anyone looking to supplement their training with heavier lifts. Another reason why hex bars can be so beneficial is that they allow you to maintain a neutral grip which is easier than gripping onto a traditional weight bar. This type of hold is also good for helping your shoulders and wrists. Browse the range and you’ll find Olympic trap bars suitable for 2” weight plates. These bars weigh around 27kg and can handle up to 300kg. As well as Olympic weight bars, we have standard trap bars which are suitable for 1” weight plates. These are slightly lighter and weigh 16kg. Additionally, we have trap bars which come with stands. These are particularly convenient for efficient weight changes as the bar sleeves are raised off the floor. They also raise the bar up from the floor which is perfect for performing hex bar deadlifts. Trap bars are best used with bumper plates. Not just for deadlifts, but for exercises such as farmers carries. Our Rickshaw Weight Carry Frames are also a fantastic training tool and can be used for deadlifts and squats. They're easy to hold and weigh 25kg. You can read more about how trap bar deadlifts differ from conventional barbell deadlifts in our blog.
