Mirafit On The Inside: What Is Fitness?

What is fitness?

When we think about fitness, most of us think about what it means to work out. Whether it’s lifting weights, running or playing sports, it’s usually about what we do to stay strong or keep the weight off. And although these things have a big impact on our physical wellbeing, they’re not the whole story.

If we think less about what we do to get fit, and more about why we do it, we see that fitness encompasses a whole lot more.

Because staying fit isn’t just about getting in a few sessions at the squat rack. By taking a step back and seeing fitness as a whole, we see not just what we do to train, but our motivation for doing it.

Would we train as hard if it didn’t help us keep up with the kids? Would we run so far if it didn’t help clear our minds? Or would we lift so much if it didn’t have an impact on the way we look and feel?

Fitness isn’t just about having a love for working out and being in the gym. It’s about defining who we are and helping us become the people we aspire to be.

What fitness means to us

Whether it’s doing HIIT, bootcamp, weightlifting or Yoga, there’s not much we don’t love when it comes to keeping fit. There are a few things in particular, however, that we believe really stand out as key factors in fitness development and definition.

1) Pride

Fitness is about being proud of who you are and of everything you achieve.

Working out, staying fit and pushing through your limits allows you to be the best version of you. And that, for us, is what matters the most.

2) Power

This isn’t just about being strong, but about having the power to take control of your body. The power to choose how you live your life, how you see yourself and how others see you.

It’s about raising your confidence and giving you another excuse to hold your head high.

3) Freedom

Fitness gives you freedom. The freedom to create and the freedom to try out new things.

It allows you to design your own workout so that you can build, develop and progress how you choose to progress. It means never having to say no because of your body’s limitations.

Working out at home also gives you the freedom to do what you want, when you want.

4) Clarity

Physical and mental wellbeing come hand-in-hand. And by working out, you not only get that rush of endorphins, but you also get time to think, focus and get some headspace.

It’s easy to just focus on the parts of you that other people see. But it’s just as important to concentrate on the parts that only you see. Ultimately, you are the only one who benefits from your own fitness. We believe in taking care of all of you, not just part of you.

5) Quality

We believe everyone deserves the opportunity to be the best version of themselves. This means making sure the right to be healthy isn’t tied up in expensive equipment or costly fees.

We’ve always made our equipment to the highest of standards and are proud of our exceptional levels of quality and design.

We’re passionate about precision, efficiency but also, accessibility.

We want as many people as possible to have access to high quality gym equipment. And that means making solid pieces of kit that are also affordable.

Our equipment is of unprecedented value and that’s because our focus is not about profit. It’s about getting it right and making a difference.

How to start your fitness journey

If you’re looking to get fit, there are lots of ways you can get started.

One of the best ways is to write down your goals. That way, you can remind yourself of why you’re working out in the first place – which is especially good if you’re someone who doesn’t really enjoy exercising!

Strength

Getting stronger will mean different things to different people. The key thing to remember is that there are lots of different ways to build muscle.

Whether it’s weightlifting, doing Yoga or simply using your own bodyweight, there are plenty of different ways you can improve your strength and fitness levels.

It also pays to be creative with your training as it’s a great way to find new ways to work out, as well as a chance to mix things up.

Weight loss

Losing weight is never easy. One of the hardest things about it is that you need to keep it up over time. It’s not about the fad diets. It’s about finding a method that works for you.

The good news is, fitness is great for helping you to reduce fat, burn calories and shape your body. It’s also fantastic for motivation, focus and for keeping your metabolic rate up.

Some of the best ways to get results are by doing things like High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT), bootcamp and any sort of resistance work.

Of course, these aren’t the only two reasons people choose to exercise. It might be that you love sport, want to compete, want an excuse to hang out with your friends or want to feel stronger mentally as well as physically.
